Why the name Big Syd?
Simple. Since my earliest days, I've been in charge. I came by the nick name honestly. First Born. Oldest Daughter. Working mom. Type A. Organization-obsessed. Breast cancer survivor. Master degree in problem solving and the proactive pivot.
Raised in Vermont. Chicago was home for decades. Now based in Northampton, MA.
New England + Midwest upbringing = street smart salt-of-the-earth pragmatism. I work hard, am loyal to my core and manage big personalities without ego.
I studied at DePaul University’s Theatre School and Columbia College Chicago, concentrating in Film and Video Production. I have over twenty years in the industry, split between freelancing and staff roles which include Producer and Head of Production titles.
I came up the long and hard way—starting at the bottom as a production assistant and working my way up. That kind of education builds a full-scope producer: organized, well rounded, compassionate, unafraid to lead with out ego. I work hard because I know no other way. Experience builds earned confidence and once its earned it comes naturally. In short, you can trust me-I've got this.
